As an artifact civilization born in Chinese culture, rattan weaving has formed a unique aesthetic feeling complemented by nature and manpower in addition to meeting the practical needs of daily life due to its unique factors.

Nanhai rattan weaving, as a typical representative, was selected into the intangible cultural Heritage list of Guangdong Province in 2012

南海藤编有藤席、藤笪、藤家具、藤织件等产品类型。藤家具有桌、椅、沙发、凳、床、柜、茶几、箱、屏风等产品。藤织件既有瓶、盘、杯、碟、包、盒等实用织件，也包括人物、动物、风物、小摆件等纯工艺品，特别能体现藤编技艺的精细程度和艺术特质。这些产品构型精巧、工艺精细、图案精美，诠释了南海藤编的风格特色。

Nanhai rattan weaving has rattan mat, rattan furniture, rattan woven parts and other product types. Rattan furniture include tables, chairs, sofas, stools, beds, cabinets, coffee tables, boxes, screens and other products. Rattan woven pieces include bottles, plates, cups, dishes, bags, boxes and other practical woven pieces, but also include figures, animals,  small ornaments and other pure handicrafts, which can especially reflect the fine degree and artistic characteristics of rattan weaving techniques. These products are exquisite in configuration, fine in craft and exquisite in pattern, which interpret the style characteristics of Nanhai rattan weaving.

据史料记载，出产于岭南南海郡的藤器，曾是唐宋时期的宫廷贡品。明清时期，南海的藤编业成行成市，业态臻于繁荣。据成书于清康熙年间的《广东新语》载：“大抵岭南藤类至多，货于天下，其织作藤器者，十家而二。”

According to historical records, rattan ware produced in Nanhai County of Lingnan was once a court tribute in the Tang and Song dynasties. It wasn’t until the Ming （1368 – 1644） and Qing （1644 – 1911） dynasties that rattan weaving would truly mature as an industry. Rattan furniture and household goods became very popular. According to Guangdong Xin Yu written in the Qing Dynasty，in Lingnan—a region encompassing the modern Chinese provinces of Guangdong，Guangxi，and Hainan—“Of every ten households，there would be two weaving rattan.”

藤编生产工艺复杂，从原藤加工到藤器成型，除了借助刀、锯、偈头、喷灯、转子、藤锥、拉藤刀、垫批、洗藤机、开藤机、织藤笪机、穿花机等工具，绝大部分流程由手工操作完成。

Rattan weaving production process is complex, from the original rattan processing to rattan molding, in addition to the use of knives, saws, gatha, blowtorch, rotor, rattan cone, pull rattan knife, pad batch, rattan washing machine, rattan opening machine, rattan weaving machine, threading machine and other tools, most of the process is completed by manual operation.

藤编产品以原藤原色为主，原生态的天然藤条可实现生物降解，不含有害化学物质，触感清爽且富于弹性，被称为“会呼吸”、绿色环保的居家器具，具有经久耐用、通风透气、防蛀防潮、冬暖夏凉等特性。

Rattan products are based on the original rattan color, the original ecological natural rattan can achieve biodegradation, does not contain harmful chemicals, feel fresh and elastic, known as "breathing", green and environmentally friendly home appliances, with durable, ventilated, mothproof moisture, warm in winter and cool in summer and other characteristics.

因此，藤编寄寓着一种大道至简、淡雅从容的生活观念。不少文学家、艺术家都曾对藤椅情有独钟，齐白石有题画诗云“出门买蔬菜，回家坐藤椅”。

Therefore, rattan weaving embodies a simple and elegant life concept. Many writers and artists have a special preference for rattan chairs, Qi Baishi has an inscription poem, "Go out to buy vegetables, go home to sit on rattan chairs."

非遗传承和工匠手艺   Intangible cultural heritage inheritance and craftsmanship

南海藤编于2012年入选广东省非物质文化遗产保护名录。我们从事藤编材料生产及藤制品加工30年，拥有长期稳定的藤编产业链上中下游协同能力，以及一批成熟且经验丰富的藤编手艺人。

Nanhai rattan was included in the list of intangible cultural heritage protection of Guangdong Province in 2012. We have been engaged in the production of rattan materials and rattan products processing for 30 years, with a long-term stable rattan industry chain in the middle and downstream cooperation ability, as well as a group of mature and experienced rattan craftsmen.

我们取材于全球盛产优质自然野生藤条的印度尼西亚核心产区。受益于独特的地理环境和典型的热带雨林气候，阳光和雨水终年充沛，年平均温度25-27℃，再加上肥沃的火山灰土壤，这里生长的植物藤，饱满匀称，纤维光滑细密，韧性强，富弹性，抗拉性高，长久使用不易脆断，品质上乘。

We source from Indonesia, the core producing area of high-quality natural wild rattan in the world. Benefiting from the unique geographical environment and typical tropical rainforest climate, abundant sunshine and rain all the year round, the annual average temperature of 25-27 ℃, coupled with fertile volcanic soil, the plants growing here are full and symmetrical, the fibers are smooth and fine, strong toughness, rich elasticity, high tensile strength, long-term use is not easy to be brittle.
